Frequently Asked Questions
FAQs
Here’s a list of questions I get asked, well, frequently. Feel free to call (718.713.7751) or email (eric@lerdini.com) if you need more info.
How much?
I offer many different options based on your needs and the age of your kids. For complete details, including pricing, simply fill out this quick and easy form.
How can I pay you?
Cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Venmo and PayPal.
How far in advance should I book you?
That’s entirely up to you, but I have to warn you, the longer you wait the more unlikely it will be that I’m available. I would recommend at least 8 weeks before your party. If you only found me and your party is tomorrow, still fill out this quick and easy form. I may not be available, but I will reach into my pool of local magicians to try and help you out any way that I can.
My party is outside, is that OK?
Why of course! Just do me a favor and let me know so I will be prepared.
How should I schedule the party?
Never start the magic show less than 15 minutes after the start of the party. No matter what you tell your guests, someone will always be late. Let’s say your party starts at 11am, here is a typical schedule:
11am – 11:30am: Guests arrive and settle in
11:30am – 12:30pm: Magic Show! (Could be shorter or longer depending on which package you choose)
12:30pm – 12:45pm: Pizza
12:45pm – End: Birthday Cake
This is of course flexible and depends on your start time and number of guests, but notice how the magic show is before the food…Nothing can compete with food!
Can I take pictures and video of your magic show?
Of course! It’s your kid’s special day and you’re going to want to capture it. Just don’t be behind your camera the whole time. The party is for you to enjoy as well!
My child is shy and probably won’t want to help out so much, is this still a good fit for their birthday?
After my many years of performing, I’ve seen it all and am prepared to adapt my show as needed to ensure it is a truly magical experience for you and your family.
I don’t have an exact head count yet, when do you need to know by?
You can let me know the exact amount two days before the show, when I confirm all the party details with you. If your booked package includes balloons, don’t fret over exact numbers, I will alway bring plenty of balloons, just in case a few extra siblings show up.
Can I change my booked package after I’ve made a deposit?
Of course! Just let me know within 24 hours of your party and we will adjust your outstanding balance.
Is a deposit required?
Yes. A 25% non-refundable deposit is required to hold your date and time.
How much space does your magic show need? Do you need a table?
One of the advantages to being a one person, self-contained show, is it’s just me and I’m very flexible. I hardly need any space at all. If you can comfortably fit your guests, you have enough space for me. And you literally don’t need to provide anything other than a space for me to perform. My case doubles as my table, so I’m all set.
How old should the kids be?
Most of the kids should be at least 4 years old. It’s ok if some are 3, the four year olds will help them out. I just need to know ahead of time the age range of your guests so I can tailor my show appropriately. My 4 year olds show is very different from my 10 year olds show.
Can we serve food, snacks and drinks during the magic show?
It’s your party, you could do whatever you want…but in my experience, food, snacks, and/or drinks never ends well during the show. The snacks and drinks are a HUGE distraction and something will always spill.
I have more than one birthday child, can we still do this?
Of course! Same show, but we will just have more birthday children stars of the show.
Can we leave all the kids with you and have a separate adult party in another room?
No. At least one adult needs to be in the room supervising the kids at all times. However, don’t forget, my magic show has something for everyone. If you have adults at the party, I guarantee they will have fun watching the show. They’ll keep talking about “that water trick” way after I’m done…always happens.
